International Financial Requirements

Single International Cost after The Serious Joy Scholarship: $25,964/year.

This total includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, health insurance, living expenses and miscellaneous items, not including travel or visa paperwork. International applicants must supply proof of financial support to cover the total cost by March 1, prior to receiving an admissions decision.

Bethlehem College and Seminary does not offer additional financial assistance to international applicants.

I understand that I am required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) and have the official scores sent to the Admissions Department at Bethlehem College & Seminary. I understand I will have to pay a one-time only fee of $350.00 to the Dept. of Homeland Security for the operational costs of the Student Visa and Exchange Visitor Information Systems (SEVIS). Payment should be done prior to admittance at www.fmjfee.com after the I-20 is received. *

I understand that if accepted, I must pay a deposit of $2,000 USD. The deposit is refundable if I do not receive a visa. Payment may be made by credit card, wire transfer or other forms of certified payment. I understand that this deposit will be applied to my tuition if I am accepted. *

I understand that if I am applying to the Seminary, or as a junior transfer undergraduate there is a prerequisite of 2 semesters of Greek for my first semester courses. I understand that if I have already studied Greek, I may take an entrance exam to fulfill this prerequisite. I understand that if I have not studied Greek, I will have to enroll in a class to complete this requirement. *

I understand that I must attend the orientation for new students, which takes place the week before the fall semester begins, usually in mid-August. *

I understand that I am responsible for the direct cost of my education, as well as any expenses related to traveling to or from, or living in, the United States. I acknowledge that tuition, room and board at Bethlehem is approximately $26,000 each academic year for a single student, and is subject to increase each year. I understand that this figure increases to approximately $36,000 if my spouse will be accompanying me, and more if we are bringing children. *

I understand that as an F-1 student I can work only on campus (if a job is available). I cannot work off campus until the second year and then only with permission from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). *

Greek Coursework Requirement:

Applicants for the Master of Divinity (M.Div) program and Master of Arts in Theology and Biblical Studies program must complete Greek coursework prior to the Fall semester.

M.Div. students are required to take Beginning Greek 1 as a summer intensive course in July–Aug for incoming seminary students that have no prior Greek training. M.Div. students with prior, formal Greek training may test out of this summer intensive course according to our Graduate Language Competency Policy in the academic catalog.

The ideal applicant to the M.A. in Theology and Biblical Studies degree would have completed 1 year of college-level Greek previously. However, this is not a requirement.

Students entering other graduate programs (M.A. in Theology and Exegesis, M.A. in Theology and Global Studies, and M.A. in Theology and Letters) are not required to complete Greek coursework prior to matriculating; such coursework is built into those programs.
