If English is not your first language or considered your native speaking language, we will need to assess your English proficiency through one of the following tests:

TOEFL - minimum test score of 90 out of 120

IELTS - Minimum score of Band 7

Applicants who do not meet the minimum cores are automatically denied admission due to the academic rigor of our programs in reading and writing.

International Financial Requirements

  • The cost of attendance at Bethlehem College and Seminary after The Serious Joy Scholarship for single international students is approximately $29,220/year. This estimate includes tuition and fees, books and supplies, health insurance, and living expenses and miscellaneous items. It does not include travel expenses or visa paperwork.

  • International applicants must supply proof of financial support to cover the total cost of their degree by March 1 of their matriculation year, prior to receiving an admissions decision.

  • Bethlehem College and Seminary does not offer additional financial assistance to international applicants.

International Statement of Understanding

Please read the statements below carefully before adding your signature at the bottom of this document. Please note, this is an official and binding statement of understanding between Bethlehem College and Seminary and the applicant which signifies the total agreement of the applicant to all provisions listed below. This form must be completed and received at Bethlehem College and Seminary before you will be considered for admission.

  1. I understand that Bethlehem College and Seminary is a Christian College, affiliated with Bethlehem Baptist Church, and I agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the institution

  2. I understand that I must submit with my application a non-refundable, one-time only application fee of $40.00USD

  3. I understand that if I have obtained a bachelor degree outside of the United States, Bethlehem accepts evaluations from the following organizations: World Education Services (www.wes.org); AACRAO International Educational Services (http://ies.aacrao.org); Educational Credential Evaluators (http://www.ece.org). I acknowledge that I will be responsible for any evaluation fees. I agree that the official evaluation will be forwarded to Bethlehem College and Seminary. I understand that if I am applying to a graduate program, I must have obtained the equivalency of a U.S. bachelor’s degree, as determined by the official evaluation described above. I understand that if I am applying to an undergraduate program, I must have obtained the equivalency of a U.S. high school diploma

  4. I understand that if English is not my first language or if I have not attended a college in the United States, I am required to take the Test of English Language (TOEFL) with a minimum score of 90, or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of 7 and have the official scores sent to the Office of Admissions. 

  5. I understand I will have to pay a one-time fee of $350.00 USD (via www.fmjifee.com) to the Department of Homeland Security for the operational costs of the Student Visa and Exchange Visitor Information Systems (SEVIS). Payment must be completed after receiving my I-20 in order to make the required interview appointment at the Embassy. This must be completed prior to admittance at www.fmjifee.com.  

  6. I understand that if accepted, I must pay an enrollment deposit of $2000.00 USD. The deposit is refundable if I do not receive a visa. Payment may be made by credit card, wire transfer, or other forms of certified payment. I understand that this deposit will be applied to my tuition if I am accepted. 

  7. I understand that if I am applying to the Master of Divinity program and have not completed the Greek prerequisites, I must arrive in Minneapolis, MN by early July to enroll in the summer Greek intensive course. I will take a Greek entrance exam if I have studied Greek. 

  8. I understand that I must attend orientation for new students which takes place during the third week of August, typically on a Tuesday. 

  9. I understand that I am responsible for the direct cost of my education if I have not received a scholarship, financial assistance, or sponsor support. I understand I am responsible for any expenses related to traveling to or from the United States. I acknowledge that tuition, room and board at Bethlehem College and Seminary is approximately $29,900 each academic year for a single student, and is subject to increase each year. I understand that this figure increases to $39,700 when I bring my spouse and more if I have children. 

  10. I understand that I am responsible for paying the total cost of tuition each semester in advance (a payment plan is not available). 

  11. I understand that as an F-1 student I can only work on-campus (if a job is available). I cannot work off-campus until the second year with the approval from the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS).  Off-campus employment is only available to F-1 students who have completed at least one full academic year of their program of study, and who have an economic hardship that qualifies for the Department of Homeland Security’s emergent circumstances.

  12. I understand that I must purchase and maintain health insurance while enrolled at Bethlehem College and Seminary. I understand that I will need to show proof of my policy prior to the beginning of classes. 

  13. I understand that I am not allowed to request funds from churches or organizations in the United States. 

  14. I understand that after graduation, I will return to my home country.

Greek Coursework Requirement:

Applicants for the Master of Divinity (M.Div) program must complete Greek coursework prior to the Fall semester. M.Div. students with no prior Greek training are required to take Beginning Greek 1 as a summer intensive course in July–August before their first semester. M.Div. students with prior formal Greek training may test out of this summer intensive course according to our Graduate Language Competency Policy in the academic catalog.
